Gegen·entwurf
/ˈɡeːɡn̩ʔɛntˌvʊʁf/
n. German.

Counter-draft, counter-proposal: an alternative put forward against an existing one. Often used figuratively.

Against the grain,
never for the sake of it.

For me, Gegenentwurf is about having a clear vision of how things should be (a draft, if you will) and executing upon it. Knowing that something could be better is the easy part. The difference is what you do with it.
